Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala bowed out of the BNP Paribas Open on Wednesday (Manila time) following a dominant 6-2, 6-0 defeat to Czech star Linda Nosková in the fourth round at Indian Wells.

Nosková, ranked 14th in the world, overpowered the 32nd-ranked Eala with her aggressive baseline game and commanding serves, taking the first set in just 32 minutes before cruising through the second set.

Eala had flashes of resilience, including a determined hold in the fifth game of the opening set where she executed a sharp volley to narrow the gap to 3–2. However, Nosková quickly reasserted control, winning the next three games and eventually closing the set 6–2 with an ace.

The second set proved even more challenging for the Filipina, as Nosková immediately broke serve and maintained relentless pressure. Eala briefly reached 30–15 in one game but could not stem Nosková’s dominance, who went on to close the set 6–0, completing a commanding victory.

This defeat ends Eala’s impressive maiden run at Indian Wells, where she entered as the 31st seed. After a second-round thriller against Dayana Yastremska (7-5, 4-6, 7-5) and advancing to the fourth round following Coco Gauff’s retirement due to an arm injury, Eala had shown promise but struggled against Nosková’s firepower.

The loss also continues a difficult trend for the Filipina, as she has now lost all 11 matches against Czech opponents in her career.

Despite the setback, Eala’s performance at the prestigious tournament underscores her growing presence on the WTA Tour and sets a foundation for future breakthroughs at major events.
