Nigerian singer Chike has publicly accused a social media user, identified as Chioma Nneoma Ochibili, of allegedly defrauding him of $20,000 in a business deal that he claims never materialised.

The music star made the allegation in a series of posts on the platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning, where he expressed frustration over what he described as a deceptive business arrangement.

According to the singer, he transferred the money to Ochibili for a business opportunity she had presented to him. However, he claimed that she failed to fulfil her end of the agreement and that he only realised much later that the deal might have been fraudulent.

In one of the posts, Chike accused the woman of surviving on funds collected from unsuspecting individuals.

“Chioma Nneoma Ochibili, so you are a thief? That’s how they do. They will tell you they are doing certain business. Her business is to survive on your money,” he wrote.

The singer also suggested that the total amount tied to the alleged scheme could be higher, hinting that as much as $50,000 might be involved, including the $20,000 he claimed to have lost.

Expressing disbelief at the situation, Chike added that he only recently discovered he might have been one of several people allegedly affected.

“How do I find out this late that I’m just another person she has duped? Even me I de laugh myself,” he wrote.

He further warned his followers and the public to avoid entering into any form of business transaction with the woman.

When questioned online about the details of the business arrangement, the singer maintained that the specific nature of the deal was not the main issue. Instead, he argued that the central problem was that the purported business itself allegedly did not exist.

“Whatever business Chioma sells to you is not the issue. The big issue here is that the business does not even exist, which then equates to fraud,” he said.

Chike also disclosed that he has begun taking steps to recover the money he claims to have lost.

As of the time of filing this report, Ochibili had not publicly responded to the allegations.
