Nigerian socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has admitted that not supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last general election was a political miscalculation.

The nightlife entrepreneur made the remarks during a political gathering in Imo State, where he said he and his associates had decided to adopt a new political strategy by aligning with the federal government.

According to him, the event was the outcome of several weeks of planning and reflects growing support for the current administration among political stakeholders in the state.

Chief Priest said previous attempts to oppose the government had not yielded the expected outcomes, prompting a change in approach.

“We have decided to partner with the government at the center. We are not ready to fight. We tried fighting and it didn’t work for us,” he said.

The businessman also commended the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, for maintaining a strong relationship with the federal government, noting that such cooperation has contributed to development in the state.

He further praised Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, describing him as a unifying figure who is helping to strengthen relationships across ethnic and regional divides.

Reflecting on the last election cycle, Chief Priest acknowledged that he had previously opposed Tinubu but now views the decision as a strategic error.

“Politics is a game… we don’t want to lose again and we will never waste our votes again,” he said.

He added that the growing support around the president could evolve into one of the country’s largest political movements, promising stronger mobilisation ahead of future elections.

Chief Priest concluded by offering prayers for Tinubu’s success in office and urged Nigerians to embrace unity, cooperation and partnership as the country moves forward.
