Don’ Table blended film, fashion and fine tequila with an intimate and elevated affair that brought together South Africa’s leading creative together to honour a deep devotion to craft and the art of storytelling.

Johannesburg’s skyline set the scene for a night of glamour and cultural celebration as Don Julio hosted The Icons of the Screen at the iconic Four Seasons Hotel, The Westcliff. With sweeping views of the city lights the evening delivered a sophisticated red-carpet moment that brought together some of South Africa’s most influential voices in film, television, and culture.

At the heart of the evening, a powerful panel moderated by Teddy Geldart brought together three formidable voices in African storytelling Sindi Dlathu, a veteran actress celebrated for her decades long impact on South African television and her award-winning performances, Linda Mtoba a cultural force and audience favourite known for her dynamic roles and influence both on-screen and in shaping contemporary narratives and Ifeoma Agu, a respected industry voice and creative leader recognised for her contribution to advancing authentic African stories across platforms. Together, these trailblazers explored devotion to African storytelling, drawing a clear parallel to Don Julio’s Por Amor ethos of craft, passion, and purpose. Speaking on the significance of the moment, Ifeoma Agu shared: “As we celebrate the icons of the screen, let us use this platform as a white canvas to tell African stories that will reach global stages.”

A defining highlight of the evening was the Honorary Artistic Award, presented by Don Julio to legendary South African actress Sindi Dlathu, accompanied by a R100,000 honorarium. The recognition reflects the brand’s commitment to celebrating individuals who embody unwavering dedication to their craft, and who, like Don Julio, have devoted their lives to excellence, legacy, and purpose. Dlathu’s enduring contribution to the film and television industry, and her role in shaping the narrative of African storytelling, made her a natural and meaningful recipient of this honour.

Accepting the award, Dlathu reflected on the significance of storytelling and the responsibility artists carry in shaping culture. “Storytelling is more than performance it is a legacy we leave behind for the generations that follow. To be recognised in this way is deeply humbling, and it reminds me why we devote ourselves to the craft. African stories deserve to be told with authenticity, passion, and excellence,” she said echoing Don Julio’s Por Amor philosophy, where true craft is driven by passion, purpose, and a deep commitment to leaving a lasting legacy.

Following the discussion, guests were invited to an intimate culinary experience at The Don’s Table, where curated dining and signature cocktails set the tone for an evening of connection and celebration. As the night unfolded, the event transitioned into a lively after-party that brought together music and culture, with South African music powerhouses DBN Gogo and Kelvin Momo sharing the stage and elevating the celebration into a vibrant late-night affair.

The evening united fashion, film, and premium hospitality, with curated culinary moments and signature Don Julio1942 cocktails. Set against Johannesburg’s glittering skyline, the Icons of the Screen celebration became a tribute to devotion, craft, and the power of African storytelling where legacy met celebration.
