The Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, Ronke Soyombo, disclosed that the registrations were completed through the council’s online portal ahead of the May 14–16, 2026 Batch A examination.
According to her, the volume of registrations reflects growing confidence in the platform, which was introduced in September 2025 as part of efforts to modernise teacher licensing and certification processes nationwide. The initiative received backing from the Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa.
Soyombo acknowledged that the rollout initially encountered technical challenges, largely driven by heavy user traffic, system upgrades, and the transition from manual to digital processes. She noted, however, that these issues were temporary and have since been resolved.
“The TRCN digital registration portal is now running smoothly and continues to serve teachers nationwide without interruption,” she said, adding that the successful onboarding of over 10,000 candidates demonstrates the platform’s reliability and efficiency.
She further emphasised that the early difficulties were part of a normal adjustment phase and should not be interpreted as a failure of the system.
The TRCN boss reiterated that the portal remains the sole authorised channel for teacher registration, licensing, and certification in Nigeria, ensuring transparency and reducing the risk of fraud.
In addition, the council clarified that it has never authorised any bank to sell registration forms, stressing that all applications must be processed exclusively through its official digital platform.
Soyombo also commended teachers for their patience and cooperation during the transition period, assuring stakeholders that continuous improvements are being made to enhance the system’s performance and user experience.
