Warner Music Group (WMG) and Netflix have announced an exclusive multi-year first-look deal to bring the stories of the music company’s artists and songwriters to the screen through documentaries and original films. The collaboration aims to provide fans with unprecedented access to Warner’s storied roster, spanning decades of influential music.

Under the agreement, WMG will work alongside Unigram—run by Amanda Ghost and Gregor Cameron—which will serve as the production arm for all long-form content. Projects will be developed in close consultation with artists or their estates, ensuring authenticity and alignment with the creators’ visions.

Although the announcement did not specify which artists will be featured, WMG’s catalogue spans iconic acts such as Prince, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, and Joni Mitchell, as well as contemporary stars including Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars. WMG does not necessarily retain rights to all recordings in its extensive archive, which may influence which projects can be developed.

Music documentaries have remained a popular genre since the rise of streaming, and Netflix has produced dozens over the past decade. While many full-career retrospectives have been explored—like last year’s “Becoming Led Zeppelin,” which chronicled the band’s explosive early career—there is room for fresh perspectives and new storytelling formats highlighting individual artists’ journeys and creative processes.

Robert Kyncl, CEO of Warner Music Group, emphasized the potential of the collaboration: “The combination of Warner Music Group’s IP with Netflix’s global reach is an incredible opportunity to introduce new fans to our artists and songwriters all around the world.”

Adam Del Deo, Netflix’s VP of Documentary Films & Series, added, “We’ve seen how music inspires incredible fandom on Netflix, so we’re excited to partner with Warner Music Group and the best-in-class artists they work with to bring even more indelible music storytelling to our members.”

Unigram co-founder Amanda Ghost brings a multifaceted perspective to the partnership. Originally a Grammy-nominated songwriter known for hits such as James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful” and tracks for Beyoncé and Jordin Sparks, Ghost also led Epic Records in the U.S. from 2009–2010, increasing market share amid industry challenges. Since founding Unigram with Cameron in 2015, she has produced films including The United States vs. Billie Holiday and Mad About the Boy: The Noel Coward Story, and is currently lead producer on Florence Welch’s musical Gatsby: An American Myth.

By leveraging WMG’s extensive intellectual property, Unigram’s production expertise, and Netflix’s global streaming platform, the partnership aims to offer audiences an immersive and intimate look at some of music’s most celebrated creators, highlighting the artistry, influence, and stories behind the songs.
