The 2026 MOBO Awards, celebrating Black music and culture, crowned Nigerian and British-Nigerian stars in a night of high-profile recognition at Manchester’s event, marking the first time the ceremony was held in the city.

Global music icon Wizkid took home the Best African Music Act award, edging out fellow Nigerian heavyweights including Davido, Rema, Shallipopi, Tiwa Savage, and Adekunle Gold. Meanwhile, rising star Ayra Starr won the Best International Act, surpassing international nominees such as Cardi B, Gunna, and Kehlani, highlighting her growing influence on the global music stage.

British-Nigerian influencer and entertainer Niko Omilana also made waves, securing the Best Media Personality award over contenders like Bemi Orojuogun, popularly known as Bus Aunty, and DJ Remi Burgz.

The event also recognized other celebrities of Nigerian descent. German-Nigerian singer Odeal was nominated in the Best Male Act and Best R&B/Soul Act categories, while British actors Wunmi Mosaku, Damson Idris, Dayo Koleosho, and Cynthia Erivo were among the nominees for Best Performance in a TV Show/Film.

The Manchester edition of the MOBO Awards brought together international talent to honor achievements in music, media, and entertainment, signaling the continued global reach of Black artistry.
