A touching on-stage reunion between Nollywood veterans Faithia Williams and Saidi Balogun has ignited widespread reactions online, as the former couple shared a warm moment at a high-profile movie premiere in Lagos.
The duo, who were once married, appeared together at the April 26 premiere of Efunroye: The Unicorn, a historical film produced by Williams. They were joined on stage by their son, Khalid, with all three dressed in coordinated outfits—an appearance that drew applause from attendees and quickly captured attention on social media.
During the event, Williams acknowledged their enduring bond despite their past, expressing appreciation for both her son and her management team. The film itself chronicles the life of Efunroye Tinubu, a prominent 19th-century businesswoman and political figure, and is scheduled for nationwide cinema release on May 1. It features notable Nollywood stars such as Odunlade Adekola and Mercy Aigbe.
The public reunion has since gone viral, with many praising the pair for displaying maturity and mutual respect years after their separation. Williams and Balogun were married from 2000 until 2014 and share two children.
Social media users offered varied interpretations of the moment. Some questioned whether the pair are truly separated, while others commended their ability to maintain a positive relationship. One commenter described the scene as “a king supporting a queen,” suggesting it reflects a healthy dynamic beyond the typical notion of estranged couples.
Others took a more analytical view, likening their relationship to the fictional partnership between Frank Underwood and Claire Underwood from the series House of Cards, where personal ties evolve into strategic collaboration. The moment has also been described as nostalgic, with some fans calling them a “power couple” whose reunion symbolizes growth and reconciliation beyond romance. Their recent joint appearances at public events, along with Balogun’s role in the film, have further fueled speculation about the nature of their relationship.
Despite the ongoing public interest, neither Williams nor Balogun has indicated any romantic reconciliation. However, their continued collaboration and visible support for one another have been widely interpreted as a strong example of amicable co-parenting and professional partnership within the entertainment industry.
