Titled 112Culture, the song is part of a broader advocacy initiative designed to sensitize Nigerians on the importance of prompt emergency communication while complementing ongoing government efforts to strengthen public safety and rapid response systems.
According to I. Uk, the initiative seeks to instill a nationwide culture of using the 112-emergency line in times of danger or crisis. “Timely communication with emergency responders can significantly reduce casualties and property loss, particularly in situations involving accidents, crime, fire outbreaks, or medical emergencies,” he explained.
The musician highlighted that the government has expanded and built more Emergency Communication Centres (ECCs) across the country, improving response efficiency. “The 112Culture song was meticulously crafted to deliver this life-saving message. It urges the public to call 112 in emergencies such as insecurity, violence, fire outbreaks, accidents, or health crises, knowing that responders like the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance, and Federal Road Safety Corps will be dispatched promptly,” I. Uk said.
A former President of the Mass Communication Students’ Association at Lagos State University of Science and Technology, I. Uk said the idea for the song arose during a period of heightened insecurity, when delayed emergency responses often worsened outcomes due to lack of public awareness.
He stressed that many Nigerians remain unaware that 112 is toll-free and accessible across all mobile networks, making it a vital tool in life-saving interventions. “The difference between life and death in many emergencies often depends on how quickly help is contacted. If more Nigerians understand and consistently use 112, many preventable tragedies can be avoided,” he said.
I. Uk, who also co-founded the advocacy group 112CultureNigeria, revealed that the National Orientation Agency (N.O.A.) has plans for a nationwide awareness campaign on the 112 emergency number and may integrate the 112Culture song into its efforts.
The song is available across all I. Uk’s social media platforms, including Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok, under the handle @officialiuk.
