Residents of Ose Local Government Area in Ondo State continue to face severe challenges in health, education, and infrastructure, according to Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod, who has publicly criticized the state government’s response to the community’s plight.
Afod, who has reportedly been appealing to the state authorities for nearly a month, intensified his call on Monday evening, accusing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of neglecting urgent livelihood needs across the LGA.
Highlighting decades-long issues, Afod revealed that some communities in Ose have been without electricity for as long as 20 years, while Idoani, one of the major towns, has remained in darkness for the past eight years.
Addressing the governor directly, Afod said:
“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, you think I will keep quiet if you ignore my plea for Ose Local Government? No, I’m not keeping quiet. Look at CAC Nursery and Primary School in Idoani—another school in the same LGA is in a similar condition. Teachers have fled, children no longer attend school, roads are inaccessible, and yet state resources continue to be poorly managed.”
He further criticized the local health system, noting that all general hospitals in Idoani have reportedly been shut down. Afod also raised concerns over financial exclusion, pointing out the absence of commercial banking services in the area.
Calling for a coordinated intervention, Afod urged the governor to collaborate with local leaders, including the Chairman of Ose LGA, Hon. CK Ojo, as well as state and federal legislators representing the constituency.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa, call the Chairman, the House of Representatives members, the House of Assembly representatives, and the Senator for this constituency. How long will Ose Local Government continue like this?” he questioned.
The actor’s remarks come amid growing public outcry over the state of basic amenities in Ondo’s rural communities, highlighting persistent infrastructure and service delivery gaps that continue to affect daily life.
