Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has once again stirred public attention after alleging that he was paid ₦20 million by fellow artist Burna Boy to physically confront social media personality Speed Darlington during their widely reported online dispute.
In a recent video circulating online, Portable claimed he was engaged on a “performance-based” arrangement to settle tensions between Burna Boy and Speed Darlington, insisting that he successfully carried out the task and received full payment.
“I Was Paid and I Delivered,” Portable Says
According to the singer, the arrangement stemmed from a period when Speed Darlington was publicly criticising Burna Boy.
Portable alleged that he was brought in to confront Speed Darlington in what he described as a boxing-style encounter, claiming the ₦20 million payment was tied to the outcome.
“The last time Speed Darlington and Burna Boy had issues, he paid me N20 million to beat him in a boxing match. I did it and he paid me,” he said.
Speaking in a mix of English and Pidgin, he further insisted that Burna Boy honoured the alleged agreement, suggesting that payment was contingent on his “victory.”
“The time wey Burna Boy and Speed Darlington get issue… na me help Burna Boy beat am. He promise me N20 million, and he give me,” he added.
Claims of Accountability and Public Reaction
Portable also stated that he would have publicly called out Burna Boy if the alleged payment had not been fulfilled, implying a level of trust and accountability between them.
“If he promise me money and he no give me, I go call am out,” he said, adding that he refrained from doing so because the alleged payment was completed.
His comments have since sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many users questioning the authenticity of the claim and others treating it as part of his long-running pattern of provocative statements.
A New Challenge to Wizkid and Carter Efe
In the same video, Portable extended a similar “offer” to Nigerian superstar Wizkid, proposing to confront comedian and content creator Carter Efe for another ₦20 million fee.
“Now Wizkid should pay me N20 million so I can finish Carter Efe for him,” he added.
Familiar Pattern of Controversy
Portable has built a reputation for outspoken and often controversial remarks that frequently dominate online conversations. His latest claims follow a familiar pattern in which he positions himself at the centre of celebrity disputes, blending humour, bravado, and street-style commentary.
While neither Burna Boy nor Speed Darlington has publicly responded to the latest allegations, the statements have already generated renewed debate among fans, many of whom are awaiting clarification or rebuttal from those mentioned.
For now, the claims remain unverified—but they have once again ensured Portable’s name stays firmly in the centre of Nigeria’s entertainment discourse.
