Beyond the top-tier results, the university also produced 58 graduates who secured Second Class Upper Division, reinforcing its reputation for strong academic performance in legal education.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Ilorin by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun. He described the outcome as unprecedented in the history of the university’s Faculty of Law, noting that it marks the highest number of First Class graduates ever recorded in the Bar Finals. The previous peak, he added, was in 2023 when 10 graduates attained the same distinction.
Akogun attributed the achievement to sustained improvements in teaching quality and institutional leadership, pointing to deliberate efforts to enhance academic delivery across the faculty.
Reacting to the results, the Vice-Chancellor, Wahab Egbewole, described the performance as a significant milestone for both the Faculty of Law and the university at large. He noted that the achievement reflects a consistent commitment to high academic standards and expressed confidence in the faculty’s ability to sustain and surpass such records.
Egbewole, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and member of the Body of Benchers, said the outstanding results were a testament to the dedication, discipline, and resilience of the graduates, as well as the quality of training provided by the institution. He commended the First Class graduates for their exceptional feat and acknowledged the efforts of all students who successfully passed the examinations.
Describing the outcome as a “proud moment,” the Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining excellence in both academic and professional training. He also urged the graduates to uphold the institution’s values and represent it positively in their legal careers.
The latest results further strengthen the standing of the University of Ilorin as one of Nigeria’s leading centres for legal education, with a consistent track record of producing high-performing candidates at the Nigerian Law School.
