The update, announced on Friday, came through the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who shared the development via his official X account. The move is aimed at giving candidates another opportunity to realign their academic preferences with their performance and available admission requirements across tertiary institutions.
CBT Centres Designated for All Modification Requests
According to the Board, candidates who intend to make adjustments to their original UTME choices are required to do so strictly through approved channels.
“Candidates wishing to change their institution or programme of choice may now proceed to do so by visiting any of the Board’s approved CBT centres,” he stated.
JAMB stressed that all alterations must be carried out only at accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide. This, it noted, is to prevent errors, ensure data integrity, and protect candidates from fraudulent operators who often exploit admission-related processes.
The Board’s emphasis on CBT centres reflects its continued push toward tighter control of post-registration activities, especially at a time when admission competition is intensifying across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
Printing of Original UTME Result Slips Begins May 18
In addition to the change-of-course update, the examination body also announced that printing of the original 2026 UTME result slips will commence on Monday, May 18, 2026.
The result slip is an essential document for admission processing. It typically contains candidates’ passport photographs, personal details, and UTME scores, and is required during post-UTME screenings, verification exercises, and final clearance for admission into tertiary institutions.
Candidates Reassess Admission Options
The announcement comes at a crucial moment as candidates across the country review their admission prospects following the release of the 2026 UTME results. Many applicants are expected to adjust their choices in response to institutional cut-off marks and evolving admission standards.
Education stakeholders note that this period often sees a surge in change-of-course applications, as students attempt to improve their chances of securing admission into competitive programmes or institutions.
A Regular Step in the Admission Cycle
JAMB has consistently maintained the post-UTME modification window as part of its annual admission process. The opportunity allows candidates to correct earlier decisions or make strategic adjustments based on updated information about institutional requirements and available slots.
With the latest directive, the Board has once again reinforced its structured approach to admissions management, while urging candidates to strictly follow approved procedures to avoid complications in their application records.
