Veteran Nollywood actor Lanre Adediwura has revealed why he declined an opportunity to return to the television drama series Wura, citing financial difficulties and career limitations he experienced while working on the production.
Speaking during an interview on TVC Entertainment, the actor disclosed that although the role boosted his visibility, the financial reward did not match the level of commitment required for the project.
According to him, the production schedule and contractual restrictions prevented him from taking other acting opportunities for nearly 11 months, leaving him financially strained despite appearing in a major television series.
Adediwura explained that the situation became so difficult that he spent more than he earned while working on the show, adding that the experience negatively affected his career growth and personal finances.
He noted that after leaving Wura, he struggled to secure a stable source of income for about six months and had to rely heavily on YouTube productions to stay afloat.
The actor further revealed that he worked behind the scenes on other creative projects during that period, including translating House of Gaa from English to Yoruba.
He also disclosed that he was once considered for the role of Alaafin Abiodun in another production, but the opportunity eventually did not materialize.
Despite his comments about the series and its financial impact on him, Adediwura said he does not anticipate any legal backlash, insisting that he made significant creative contributions to the show.
According to him, some of the expressions and ideas he introduced during production are still being used in the series today.
