What appeared to many as an overnight success was, in reality, the result of years of uncertainty, self-doubt, and quiet perseverance for Nollywood star Linda Ejiofor.
Fresh off one of the biggest nights of her acting career, the award-winning actress has revealed that there was a time she feared her journey in Nollywood had lost direction completely.
In a heartfelt interview with Nolywire, hosted by her husband and fellow actor Ibrahim Suleiman, Ejiofor opened up about the emotional struggles she faced behind the scenes before her remarkable success at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
According to the actress, the turning point came after a deeply personal moment of prayer and reflection when she sought clarity and breakthrough from God.
“Three years ago, I thought my career was stagnant and not going anywhere, and I asked God for something, anything. And He gave me two beautiful stories,” she said.
Those “two beautiful stories” would later become the projects that transformed her career and earned her major recognition at this year’s AMVCA ceremony.
Ejiofor delivered standout performances in The Serpent’s Gift and The Herd, performances that ultimately secured her two of the night’s most prestigious awards.
The actress won Best Lead Actress for her role in The Serpent’s Gift and Best Supporting Actress for The Herd, making her one of the biggest winners of the evening and cementing her status as one of Nollywood’s leading talents.
Despite the acclaim she eventually received, Ejiofor admitted that she initially struggled to see the strength in her own performances.
She credited her husband for constantly encouraging her during that difficult period, even when she doubted herself.
“I am so grateful to God, grateful to my husband because he stood by me through this. He told me that I did well in both movies. To be honest, I didn’t believe him,” she said.
Her honesty has resonated with many fans and aspiring actors, particularly those navigating moments of uncertainty in their own careers. The actress’ story has since become a powerful reminder that seasons of delay and discouragement can sometimes precede major breakthroughs.
Ejiofor’s double victory is now being widely described as one of the defining moments of the 2026 AMVCA, with many industry observers praising not only her talent but also her resilience and consistency over the years.
For the actress, the recognition represents far more than trophies — it is the reward for persistence, faith, and believing that difficult seasons do not last forever.
