Nigerian international goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has expressed joy after helping Brighton & Hove Albion Women secure a stunning comeback victory over Liverpool Women to reach the Women’s FA Cup final for the first time in the club’s history.

The dramatic semi-final clash at the BrewDog Stadium on Sunday saw Brighton overturn a two-goal deficit to claim an unforgettable 3-2 win and book a historic trip to Wembley.

Nnadozie, who recently won the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, delivered an impressive performance between the posts and made two vital saves that kept Brighton alive during difficult moments of the encounter.

Liverpool began the match with intensity and confidence, taking the lead in the 11th minute through Denise O’Sullivan. The home side extended their advantage just 11 minutes later when Beata Olsson found the net to make it 2-0, leaving Brighton with a mountain to climb early in the contest.

However, Brighton responded with determination and composure. Defender Manuela Vanegas reduced the deficit in the 23rd minute, giving the visitors renewed belief before the break.

After halftime, Brighton emerged with greater urgency and attacking intent. Their persistence paid off in the 54th minute when Madison Haley fired home the equaliser to level the score at 2-2, swinging momentum firmly in Brighton’s favour.

As Liverpool pushed for a response, Nnadozie remained calm and commanding in goal, producing crucial interventions that helped Brighton maintain control during tense periods of the match.

Brighton eventually completed the remarkable turnaround to seal a famous victory, sparking celebrations among players and supporters as the club confirmed its place in the Women’s FA Cup final for the very first time.

Reacting after the match, Nnadozie shared her excitement and gratitude in a post on her official X account.

“We are going to Wembley. Straight into the FA Cup finals. Super proud of this team. I give God the glory,” she wrote.

The achievement represents another major milestone in Nnadozie’s rapidly growing career and further highlights the increasing influence of Nigerian players in women’s football across Europe.

Brighton will now face Manchester City Women in the Women’s FA Cup final on May 31 at Wembley Stadium. City secured their place after staging their own comeback victory, defeating Chelsea Women 3-2 after extra time in the other semi-final.

The upcoming final promises to be a thrilling contest as Brighton chase the first major trophy in the club’s history, with Nnadozie expected to play a central role once again.
