Nigerian singer Peruzzi has shared how his sudden rise to fame after meeting Afrobeats superstar Davido affected his personal relationship, revealing that he stopped communicating with his girlfriend of seven years during the life-changing period.

Speaking during an appearance on the talk show Lights, Camera, It’s My Turn alongside Falz, VJ Adams and Tope Olowoniyan, the singer reflected on the overwhelming changes that came with his breakthrough in the music industry.

According to Peruzzi, his encounter with Davido completely transformed his life almost overnight. He explained that shortly after meeting the award-winning singer, he was flown to Dubai the next day and later travelled to Lebanon — experiences he described as surreal at the time.

Recalling the moment, Peruzzi admitted that the excitement of sudden fame, wealth and travel distracted him from his relationship.

“I didn’t text her or nothing, I was with my guys enjoying life,” he said during the interview.

When asked why he did not call his girlfriend to share the good news, Peruzzi explained that he was experiencing a lifestyle he had never imagined possible.

The singer candidly admitted that his reaction may have been different if he had truly been emotionally invested in the relationship at the time.

“Maybe if I was really in love, it would have been different,” he added.

Peruzzi also reflected on his early bond with Davido, noting that their connection initially felt more like a family relationship than a business arrangement. He revealed that he had recently lost his mother around the time they met, making Davido’s support particularly meaningful during that period of his life.

The revelation has sparked conversations online about how sudden success can impact personal relationships, especially within the entertainment industry where fame often brings dramatic lifestyle changes and emotional pressure.

Since breaking into mainstream music, Peruzzi has become known for hit songs, songwriting credits and frequent collaborations with Davido and other Afrobeats stars, establishing himself as one of Nigeria’s prominent contemporary artists.
