Amid shifting guest expectations, rising climate risks, and stricter regulatory demands, the Group says sustainability remains at the core of its strategy. It continues to pursue its ambition of reaching Net Zero emissions by 2050, while also supporting careers, strengthening communities, and enhancing the long-term competitiveness of its hotels and owners. The broader aim is to contribute meaningfully to a low-carbon future for the hospitality sector.
At the operational level, this strategy is being driven by a structured five-year roadmap. Key priorities include improving energy efficiency, advancing electrification, scaling renewable energy adoption, and promoting responsible use of resources across its global portfolio.
A standout achievement in 2025 was the introduction of the company’s first Verified Net Zero hotels. These properties establish a scalable blueprint for cutting emissions across both new developments and existing hotels. According to the report, they show that “meaningful decarbonization can be achieved within operational hotel environments” without sacrificing guest experience or operational performance.
The report is anchored on three pillars—Think People, Think Community, and Think Planet—providing a transparent framework that converts strategy into measurable performance. This approach is designed to embed sustainability into everyday decision-making, strengthen trust with stakeholders, and support long-term value creation.
Think People: Building a Strong, Inclusive Workforce
People remain central to the Group’s performance. With more than 75,000 employees across over 100 countries, Radisson is investing heavily in talent development, well-being, and inclusive career opportunities.
The company reported an 84% team member engagement score, outperforming the industry average by 18%. Gender diversity is also improving, with 31% of leadership roles now held by women, reflecting ongoing efforts to create a more balanced leadership structure.
Safety and security continue to be priorities, with 206 hotels certified by Safehotels, helping ensure robust protection for both guests and employees.
Training and career progression are key focus areas. Through its Radisson Academy, the company delivered more than 8.5 million hours of learning, while 40% of job openings were filled internally, signaling a strong internal talent pipeline.
The Radisson People Foundation, launched in 2024, is already making an impact by supporting employees in times of need. In 2025 alone, it assisted more than 250 team members worldwide.
Think Community: Expanding Social Impact
Radisson continues to extend its influence beyond business operations by supporting local communities and global initiatives. Its partnership with the organization Just a Drop has helped provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene access to over 34,000 people, addressing critical needs in vulnerable areas.
In 2025, the Group contributed €890,000 in cash and in-kind donations and recorded 79,000 volunteer hours from employees across its hotels and corporate offices.
Responsible sourcing is another area of progress. The company earned an EcoVadis Silver Medal, with 76% of global suppliers assessed, reinforcing its commitment to ethical procurement and sustainable supply chains.
These initiatives, the report notes, are aimed at creating shared value—supporting communities while strengthening the resilience and integrity of the business.
Think Planet: Driving Toward Net Zero
Environmental sustainability remains a cornerstone of Radisson’s long-term strategy. The Group is working toward Net Zero emissions by 2050 through sustainable building practices, renewable energy adoption, and resource-efficient hotel operations.
The newly introduced Verified Net Zero program plays a central role, offering a practical and scalable pathway to reduce emissions across the entire hotel portfolio.
Key environmental milestones in 2025 include:
- A 23% reduction in emissions intensity per square meter compared to the 2019 baseline
- A 6% reduction in total Scope 1 and 2 emissions versus 2019, despite a 20% growth in the hotel portfolio (equivalent to a 24% reduction when adjusted for growth)
- 78 hotels operating on 100% renewable electricity, with plans to expand further
The Group also opened its first Verified Net Zero hotels in Manchester City Centre and Oslo City Centre. These properties demonstrate how both new builds and existing hotels can significantly cut emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 while maintaining high service standards.
Strengthening Transparency and Accountability
The 2025 report represents a significant step forward in how Radisson communicates its sustainability performance. It is the company’s first Responsible Business Report aligned with the European Union’s Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs (VSME).
Using a double materiality approach, the report evaluates not only how environmental and social issues affect the business, but also how the business impacts the environment and society. This framework helps identify key risks, opportunities, and priorities across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas.
Overall, the report underscores a shift from ambition to execution. By embedding sustainability into operations, investing in people, and expanding its community impact, Radisson Hotel Group is positioning itself to navigate future challenges while contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive hospitality industry.
