Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has revealed the reason behind her decision to burn the outfit she wore to the burial of Alex Ekubo, sharing that the act was based on advice she received from her godmother.

The actress made the disclosure through her Instagram Story shortly after attending Ekubo’s burial, which took place on June 18 in his hometown of Arochukwu.

According to Okorie, her godmother taught her that clothes worn to burial ceremonies should not be kept afterward. She explained that she was following that guidance by destroying the outfit and felt compelled to pass the information on to others.

The actress noted that she shared the advice so that family members, friends, and followers could be aware of the practice and decide whether to adopt it themselves.

Accompanying a photo of the outfit, Okorie wrote:

“This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial. My godmother said it is not good to have cloth you wore to a burial around you. You burn them. So family and friends, take note. I felt I should share this information. May the Lord keep us and bless us with long life.”

Her post quickly drew reactions online, with many social media users discussing the cultural and spiritual beliefs surrounding burial rites and personal traditions observed after attending funeral ceremonies.

While such practices vary across families, cultures, and religious backgrounds, Okorie’s revelation has sparked conversations about the customs some individuals follow in relation to mourning and remembrance.
