The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of respected Yoruba actor and pastor, Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado.
The veteran entertainer passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 66 years old.
Widely admired for his contributions to the Yoruba segment of Nollywood, Elegbeje Ado built a reputation through memorable performances that earned him the respect of colleagues and admiration from audiences across the country. Oloketuyi wrote, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pastor Taiwo Adeshina, a beloved Nollywood legend.
“Your remarkable contributions to Yoruba movie industry and the lives you touched will never be forgotten. May God grant you eternal rest and comfort your family, friends, and fans. Rest in peace, legend.”
