Canadian pop superstar Justin Bieber is reportedly being considered for a headline performance at the inaugural FIFA World Cup Halftime Show, a move that could see the Grammy-winning singer take centre stage at one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

According to multiple reports, Bieber is in discussions to perform during the halftime spectacle at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, scheduled for Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Although FIFA and Bieber's representatives have yet to officially confirm the negotiations, the singer is said to be among the high-profile artists being lined up for the landmark event. If an agreement is reached, he would join a star-studded roster reportedly linked to the show, including Madonna, Shakira and K-pop sensation BTS.

The halftime performance is expected to become a permanent feature of the FIFA World Cup final, drawing inspiration from the entertainment format popularised by the Super Bowl while showcasing some of the world's biggest music stars.

Beyond the entertainment, organisers say the event will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at expanding access to quality education and football opportunities for children worldwide. The campaign has set a target of raising $100 million by the time the World Cup concludes.

The reported negotiations come after a successful period in Bieber's music career, during which he returned to major live performances and continued to attract global audiences.

The singer released his surprise seventh studio album, Swag, in July 2025 before following it up with the deluxe edition, Swag II, two months later. The releases were widely seen as signalling a fresh chapter in his career.

Recent reports have also linked Bieber to a headline performance at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where he reportedly performed songs from Swag alongside many of his biggest hits. Industry reports claimed the appearance attracted a massive global audience and reaffirmed his status as one of pop music's biggest live attractions.

A source close to the singer reportedly described the recent projects as the beginning of a new phase in Bieber's career, saying he is now “fully in the driver’s seat” professionally.

Away from music, Bieber recently made a surprise appearance at the NHL Draft in Buffalo, New York, where he represented his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs during the first-round selections.

Addressing fans before announcing the club's draft pick, the singer reflected on his lifelong support for the franchise.

“I’ve been a Leafs fan since I was just a little boy,” Bieber said as he walked to the stage.

“These nights are so special. I’m so grateful to be here.”

He then officially announced the team's selection.

“Mr McKenna, we’d like to draft you to the Toronto Maple Leafs,” Bieber said.

Bieber and his wife, entrepreneur and Rhode founder Hailey Bieber, have been married since 2018 and are parents to their son, Jack Blues, who turns two in August.

Should the reported negotiations result in an agreement, the FIFA World Cup Halftime Show would provide Bieber with another global platform, placing him before millions of football fans during one of the most-watched sporting events on the international calendar.
