Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has opened up about what he believes led to the breakdown of his once-friendly relationship with Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy, alleging that false accusations spread by his former associates created a rift between them.
Speaking during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, the singer recounted Burna Boy's visit to Ghana, saying he went out of his way to ensure the Nigerian artist enjoyed a comfortable stay.
According to Shatta Wale, he welcomed Burna Boy warmly, provided him with accommodation, arranged cars for his movement, and made sure he was well taken care of throughout his visit.
However, the relationship allegedly took a different turn after he parted ways with some members of his team.
Shatta Wale claimed that the former associates began contacting influential people in his life with false allegations in an attempt to damage his reputation and relationships.
"They told Burna Boy that I was f**king his girl he brought to Ghana. He just bought it," he alleged.
The dancehall star said the rumour significantly affected his friendship with Burna Boy, adding that the Nigerian singer believed the allegation without giving him an opportunity to explain his side of the story.
According to Shatta Wale, he made several attempts to reconnect with Burna Boy after the Afrobeats star's career reached greater international heights, but his efforts were unsuccessful.
He disclosed that his calls and messages allegedly went unanswered despite repeated attempts to reach the Grammy-winning singer.
Shatta Wale also revealed that he contacted Burna Boy's mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, hoping she could help facilitate communication.
According to him, she only offered explanations for why Burna Boy was unavailable and did not help resolve the misunderstanding.
Despite the fallout, Shatta Wale said he remains genuinely happy about Burna Boy's achievements and his rise on the global music scene. However, he admitted he was disappointed that the Nigerian star never gave him the chance to clear the air over what he described as false accusations made by his former team members.
His comments have since sparked conversations among fans of both artists, with many reacting to the revelations and expressing hopes that the two African music stars may one day reconcile.
