The Nigerian international enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, recording 10 clean sheets in 30 league appearances as Udinese secured a top-half finish under head coach Kosta Runjaic. His consistent performances between the posts have attracted attention from clubs across Europe’s major leagues, with Juventus among those reportedly monitoring his situation.
Okoye’s club form, coupled with his displays for the Super Eagles during Nigeria’s pre-World Cup friendly matches against Poland and Portugal, has strengthened his reputation as one of the country’s leading goalkeeping talents.
The 21-cap Nigeria goalkeeper, who is valued at €10m by Transfermarkt and still has two years left on his Udinese contract, however, said he is not distracted by transfer rumours and remains committed to the Serie A outfit.
“Of course, I still have goals in my career, but currently my head is complete at Udinese. I enjoy it without thinking too much about the future,” Okoye told Transfermarkt.
“In football things can change quickly, and if it happens, I know that the club is well positioned and can still earn a nice replacement. But until then, I am 100 per cent Udinese professional.”
The 26-year-old goalkeeper has enjoyed a productive summer break, combining relaxation with unique experiences away from football. He spent time inside a Formula One cockpit and also made an appearance alongside American rapper Cardi B at a fashion event in Paris before returning to Italy for pre-season preparations.
Since rejoining Udinese’s squad, Okoye has maintained that his attention is firmly on the new season and helping the club achieve its objectives.
“I am happy to be here. We are happy to be here with the fans, and we cannot wait to get started,” he said in comments reported by Tuttomercatoweb during Udinese’s unveiling of their 2026/27 season jersey.
As preparations continue for the new campaign, Okoye will be aiming to maintain the form that made him a key figure for Udinese last season. His performances will also be closely watched ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September, where he is expected to battle for the Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper position following Stanley Nwabali’s return to Chippa United.
Udinese will begin their 2026/27 season with a Coppa Italia clash against Serie B side Padova on August 15, with Okoye expected to play a major role as the club targets another strong campaign.
