The nationwide tour is scheduled to visit 20 tertiary institutions across Nigeria, bringing live music, entertainment, talent discovery, competitions and interactive brand experiences directly to thousands of young Nigerians.
The partnership reflects a growing shift towards experience-led brand engagement, with BIGI and Fearless creating platforms where students can interact with brands in more personal and memorable ways rather than simply encountering them through traditional advertising.
At participating campuses, students are being treated to live performances by popular artistes, talent showcases, competitions and other interactive activities designed around youth culture, creativity and entertainment.
The University of Lagos stop provided a strong demonstration of the initiative’s appeal, drawing more than 5,000 students despite rainfall. The students participated in a range of activities and enjoyed performances from leading Nigerian artistes.
A major attraction at the event was the BIGI Music Competition, which offered prizes valued at more than ₦5 million, including scholarships, further reinforcing the brands’ focus on creating opportunities alongside entertainment.
For BIGI, the campus tour also builds on its established involvement in youth-oriented entertainment and talent development. The brand has been a sponsor of Nigerian Idol across multiple seasons, supporting a platform that has helped discover and promote emerging musical talents in Nigeria.
Toyin Nnodi, Head of Marketing, Rite Foods Limited, said the changing expectations of consumers were influencing the company’s approach to engagement.
“Today’s consumers want brands that understand them and create experiences they can be part of. Through BIGI and Fearless, we are building stronger emotional connections by bringing entertainment, creativity and opportunities directly to young Nigerians.”
As Soundcity On Tour progresses to the University of Port Harcourt and other tertiary institutions, BIGI and Fearless are positioning the initiative as more than a promotional campaign.
Through the combination of entertainment, talent development, competitions and direct interaction, the brands are seeking to deepen their relationship with Nigeria’s youth while creating experiences that extend beyond the products themselves.
The tour underscores the growing importance of experiential marketing in connecting brands with younger consumers, particularly in spaces where music, creativity and social interaction are central to campus life.
