Friends, colleagues and admirers of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba are set to gather in Lagos for a special evening dedicated to celebrating her life, talent and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
The tribute event, titled “An Evening of Love, Music & Memories,” will hold on Tuesday, August 11, at LTV 8 (Blueroof), Ikeja, Lagos, with activities scheduled to begin at 5pm.
The announcement was made through a flyer shared on the actress’ Instagram page on Friday. Organisers said the gathering would serve as a moment for loved ones, artists and members of the entertainment community to reflect on Osoba’s creativity, personality and lasting impact.
“Her voice, her art, her spirit… will remain in our hearts,” the organisers stated.
The tribute comes shortly after the actress’ death at the age of 40, a development that sparked emotional reactions from colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry.
Fellow actor Alesh Sanni announced Osoba’s passing in a heartfelt post shared on Instagram. Describing her as his “dearest sister,” Sanni expressed shock and sadness over the loss.
He wrote:
“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh.”
Another actress, Adeyemo Seilat, also paid tribute to Osoba through an Instagram reel, mourning the loss of a young life.
She wrote:
“Sigh! I hate to hear about the death of young people. Life is vanity! Rest in peace Tope Osoba. May you find eternal rest.”
Osoba’s death came about two years after she publicly revealed her battle with cancer and appealed for support during her treatment journey. After recovering, she announced her return to acting in August 2025, describing the experience as a major turning point in her life.
In a message to her fans and supporters, she wrote:
“Dear beloved fans, supporters, and loved ones, I’m Temitope Osoba, and after my cancer experience, I’m excited to announce my reintroduction.”
At the time, Osoba said she was returning to the entertainment industry with a renewed commitment to healing, personal growth and empowerment. She also expressed her intention to use her platform to raise awareness about cancer and encourage support for people facing similar health challenges.
The actress thanked her management team and those who supported her during her health struggles, while also indicating her readiness to take on acting roles, endorsements and collaborations.
Meanwhile, Osoba’s family has appealed to the public to disregard unverified reports regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
In a statement shared through her official social media page, the family described several claims circulating online as “false, speculative, and entirely unauthorized.”
The family requested privacy as they mourned their loss, noting that any official information would be communicated through authorised channels or representatives.
