Award-winning filmmaker, actress and producer Funke Akindele is set to return to the big screen with a new feature film, The Four: No One Fights Alone, scheduled for a global cinema release on December 11, 2026.

The new drama, produced by Funke Akindele Network (FAAN TV) and distributed exclusively by FilmOne Entertainment, comes on the heels of another successful box-office run for Akindele, who has continued to establish herself as one of the most commercially influential filmmakers in Africa.

Described as an emotionally charged story about friendship, motherhood, resilience and the strength of ordinary women, The Four explores the bonds that hold people together in the face of difficult and seemingly impossible circumstances.

Set across the picturesque Odu Community and the energetic atmosphere of the city, the film centres on Esosa and three fiercely loyal women who embark on a determined fight to secure the future of a young man they love. Their journey puts their courage, faith and loyalty to the ultimate test, forcing them to confront challenges that stretch far beyond their expectations.

Beyond its dramatic storyline, The Four also seeks to showcase Nigeria's cultural richness through music, fashion, language, tradition and striking cinematography. The production combines these elements with a story built around hope, sacrifice and the enduring strength that comes from standing together.

The film boasts an impressive Nollywood ensemble, with Akindele leading a cast that includes Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan and Wunmi Toriola.

Award-winning singer Waje and Afrobeats star Shoday are also part of the cast, alongside entertainment personalities Samuel Banks, Kolapo Omotosho and Ayomide Iwasokun.

Speaking on the film, Akindele, who serves as its writer, director and producer, said the story was created with audiences in mind, particularly those who have followed her work over the years.

"Audiences have grown with us over the years, and they expect stories that entertain while reflecting who we are," said Funke Akindele, writer, director and producer of The Four. The project further adds to Akindele's growing body of commercially successful films. Over the years, she has directed and produced major theatrical releases including Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind The Scenes.

Her consistent box-office performances have strengthened her reputation as one of the defining forces in contemporary African cinema. Through commercially successful productions and stories rooted in Nigerian experiences, Akindele has continued to expand the reach of Nollywood while demonstrating the commercial potential of locally produced films.
