Brand brings sport, music, hospitality and social connection together at Federal Palace Hotel.
Guinness Nigeria Plc has expanded its presence in Lagos’ fast-growing lifestyle and recreational scene with the launch of a new Guinness Lounge at Magic Padel, located within the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
The new partnership places the iconic stout brand at the centre of an emerging social culture built around padel, wellness, entertainment and hospitality, offering players and visitors a dedicated environment to relax, connect and celebrate.
The launch event brought together guests and members of the growing padel community, who experienced the newly refreshed Guinness-branded courts before moving into the Guinness Lounge. The space was designed as a social hub where conversations, relaxation and entertainment could take place alongside the sporting experience.
For Guinness Nigeria, the collaboration represents a deliberate move to take the brand beyond conventional consumption occasions and into lifestyle spaces that increasingly influence how Nigerians spend their leisure time and build communities.
Speaking on the partnership, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Prof. Fabian Ajogwu, SAN, said the initiative demonstrates the company’s ability to embrace emerging trends while preserving the heritage associated with Guinness.
“Guinness Nigeria has always evolved with the times without losing sight of the heritage and values that make Guinness an iconic brand. Our partnership with Magic Padel is another expression of that philosophy.”
Ajogwu said the partnership would allow Guinness to engage consumers in a setting shaped by sport, wellness and social interaction.
“By bringing the Guinness experience into an emerging lifestyle space, we are creating opportunities for meaningful connection while supporting the growth of communities built around sport, wellness and social interaction,” he added.
The company’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Girish Sharma, said the partnership was also a response to changing consumer expectations, particularly the growing demand for experiences that combine entertainment, social interaction and wellness.
“Consumers today are seeking experiences that bring together connection, entertainment, wellness and hospitality, and Magic Padel provides a compelling platform for that.”
According to Sharma, the collaboration gives Guinness an opportunity to bring its distinctive identity into a contemporary social environment while creating a destination where consumers can spend time with friends and enjoy memorable experiences.
“This partnership allows us to take the bold and distinctive character of Guinness into a vibrant social environment while creating a space where people can relax, connect and enjoy memorable moments,” he said.
For Magic Padel, the partnership is rooted in a shared understanding of the role that community plays in building successful lifestyle brands.
Operations Manager of Magic Padel, Maya Semaan, described the collaboration as a natural fit, noting that the facility's appeal extends beyond the sport itself.
“For us at Magic Padel, the experience here is a lot more than the game. It is about great people coming together to build a community and create great experiences.”
Semaan said the launch provided an opportunity to celebrate what she described as common ground between Guinness and Magic Padel.
“Guinness is a brand with such a strong identity and we really believe that the two brands share something in common – community and bringing people together.”
She stressed that the partnership was intended to offer more than conventional brand visibility, with entertainment and sporting activities forming part of the broader experience.
“This partnership is not simply about a logo on the court or the lounge. It is about creating experiences and activating great entertainment and sports that bring people together,” Semaan said.
The new Guinness Lounge and refreshed court branding now position the facility as a meeting point between Guinness’ long-established brand heritage and the contemporary energy surrounding padel in Lagos.
Padel, a racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, has been gaining visibility among Nigeria’s urban leisure and fitness communities, particularly in Lagos. Its social nature has helped fuel its appeal as both a sporting activity and a setting for networking and leisure.
Against this backdrop, the Guinness-Magic Padel partnership gives the stout brand an opportunity to participate in a lifestyle movement increasingly driven by experiences rather than traditional brand-consumer interactions.
The initiative also forms part of Guinness Nigeria’s long history of adapting to changing consumer preferences while maintaining its connection to the Guinness brand heritage.
Guinness Nigeria has operated in the country for more than 76 years and began local production of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout in 1963. Over the decades, the company has expanded its engagement with Nigerian consumers through products, partnerships and experiences designed to reflect changing lifestyles and cultural trends.
The Magic Padel collaboration is the latest expression of that approach, bringing Guinness into a space where sport, wellness, hospitality, music and social interaction converge.
With the Guinness Lounge now open at Magic Padel, the partnership is expected to provide players and visitors with a new setting to unwind after a game, socialise with friends and experience the Guinness brand in a distinctly contemporary Lagos environment.
