Lender says results may be released earlier if regulatory approval is secured ahead of revised deadline.
Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) has secured an extension from the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) to publish its audited financial statements for the half-year ended June 30, 2026.
The NGX has now approved September 30, 2026, as the new deadline for the publication of the group’s interim audited financial statements, giving GTCO additional time to complete the regulatory process required before the results can be released to investors.
GTCO said its Board of Directors had already approved the financial statements on July 28, 2026. However, the results cannot be made public until the required clearance is obtained from the group’s primary regulator.
The extension therefore allows the financial holding company to remain within the NGX’s listing requirements while awaiting regulatory approval.
In a statement reassuring shareholders and other stakeholders about the revised timeline, GTCO’s Group General Counsel and Company Secretary, Erhi Obebeduo, said the company would not necessarily wait until the new deadline if the regulatory process was completed earlier.
“Kindly be assured that if the approval is received earlier, the company’s interim audited financial statements would be released to the market earlier than the period approved by the NGX,” Obebeduo stated.
Regulatory Clearance Delays Publication
The delay underscores the additional regulatory requirements faced by major financial institutions before publishing their periodic results.
Under directives issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria, major commercial banks and financial holding companies are required to submit their interim and full-year financial statements for regulatory review before the figures are disseminated publicly.
While the NGX sets standard reporting deadlines for listed companies, extensions can be granted where regulatory approval processes prevent financial institutions from meeting the original publication date.
For GTCO, the latest extension provides a revised window within which the outstanding regulatory requirements can be completed without putting the company in breach of exchange rules.
The company has also directed shareholders and other stakeholders seeking clarification on the postponed results to contact Oyinade Adegite of its corporate communications division.
Investors Await Performance, Dividend Details
The eventual release of GTCO’s half-year results will be closely watched by investors and market analysts, particularly given the importance of the group within Nigeria’s banking and financial services industry.
Analysts are expected to scrutinise the results for indications of the group’s revenue and profit performance, asset quality, capital position and overall operating efficiency during the first six months of the year.
The results could also provide greater clarity on the group’s proposed interim dividend for the 2026 financial year, an issue likely to attract significant attention from shareholders.
GTCO’s ability to release the results ahead of the September 30 deadline will now depend largely on how quickly the outstanding regulatory approval is secured.
Until then, the NGX-approved extension gives the group additional time to complete the process while maintaining compliance with the requirements governing listed companies.
