Transcorp Hilton Abuja has expanded its leisure and lifestyle offering with the unveiling of new padel courts, as the hotel moves to deepen its appeal to guests, families, business executives and Abuja’s growing community of sports and social enthusiasts.

The new facility introduces padel, a racket sport that has experienced rapid international growth, to the hotel’s expanding portfolio of recreational experiences. The move also forms part of a wider investment programme by Transcorp Hotels Plc aimed at creating a hospitality environment where business, relaxation, fitness and entertainment can coexist within one destination.

The launch underscores the company’s strategy of going beyond conventional accommodation and dining services by providing experiences that encourage guests and visitors to spend more time at the property.

Speaking at the unveiling, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Hotels Plc, Uzoamaka Oshogwe, said changing consumer expectations were driving the need for hotels to offer more diverse experiences.

“People want more from hospitality today. They want places where they can work, unwind, stay active, and create meaningful memories all in one destination. That is what we are offering at Transcorp Hilton Abuja. Our new padel courts are another way we are bringing people together and creating experiences our guests will love,” Oshogwe said.

Padel has become one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, attracting players across different age groups and skill levels. Its addition to Transcorp Hilton Abuja’s facilities is expected to complement the hotel’s existing sports, wellness and leisure options.

The hotel already offers a range of recreational amenities, including swimming pools, tennis and squash courts, alongside wellness facilities, dining outlets and its accommodation services.

The addition of the padel courts therefore broadens the hotel’s appeal beyond traditional business and tourism activities, potentially providing a new setting for social gatherings, fitness activities, informal meetings and leisure engagements.

For Transcorp Hotels, the investment is also part of a broader effort to transform its properties into vibrant destinations that serve multiple purposes for both hotel guests and the wider community.

The company has in recent years continued to position Transcorp Hilton Abuja as a destination capable of catering to both corporate and leisure audiences. Its facilities are designed to support business meetings, conferences and major events while providing guests with opportunities to relax and engage in recreational activities.

Oshogwe also drew attention to the hotel’s events and conference infrastructure, particularly the Transcorp Centre, which adds another dimension to the property’s business and hospitality offering.

According to Oshogwe, the combination of the hotel’s accommodation, recreational facilities and events infrastructure is intended to create an integrated destination capable of serving a wide range of needs.

“Together, these investments strengthen the hotel’s position as Nigeria’s leading destination where business meets leisure,” she added.

The launch of the padel courts comes as hospitality businesses increasingly seek to differentiate themselves by offering experiences that appeal to evolving consumer lifestyles. Rather than focusing solely on rooms, food and traditional hotel services, operators are increasingly incorporating fitness, sports, wellness, entertainment and social experiences into their offerings.
