BUA Group also receives Outstanding Industrial Brand of the Year award for its contribution to indigenous industrialisation and economic development.
Billionaire industrialist and philanthropist Abdul Samad Rabiu, Executive Chairman of BUA Group, has been recognised for his role in the expansion of the conglomerate, receiving the Edge Industrial Leadership Icon of the Year award at the Edge Awards 2026.
The award, organised by MarketingEdge, recognised BUA's growth under Rabiu's leadership into one of Africa's major industrial groups, with operations and investments spanning food production, cement, ports and terminals, construction materials and other strategic sectors of the economy.
BUA Group also received the Edge Outstanding Industrial Brand of the Year award, recognising its contribution to indigenous industrialisation, brand development and Nigeria's economic growth.
The awards were received on behalf of Rabiu by the Group Chief Operating Officer, Chimaobi Madukwe.
Speaking at the ceremony, Madukwe said the recognition reflected the company's long-term approach to industrial development and local production.
“Our Executive Chairman believes in local production and in building businesses for the long term, and that belief has shaped BUA’s journey,” he said.
He added that the awards reinforced the group's commitment to expanding its industrial footprint and contributing to the wider economy.
Madukwe thanked MarketingEdge for the recognition and acknowledged employees and other members of the wider BUA Group, crediting their efforts for the company's achievements.
The latest recognition comes as BUA's businesses continue to occupy a significant position in Nigeria's capital market. BUA Foods and BUA Cement, two of the group's listed subsidiaries, have a combined market value of nearly ₦24 trillion on the Nigerian Exchange.
The performance of the two companies has also increased the visibility of BUA's industrial operations among investors, while its broader portfolio continues to cover sectors regarded as important to Nigeria's domestic production capacity.
BUA has invested heavily in manufacturing and infrastructure as part of its strategy of increasing local production and reducing dependence on imported goods and materials.
The group's interests span food production and processing, cement manufacturing, ports and terminals, construction materials and related industrial activities.
The Edge Awards are held annually to recognise Nigerian companies and brands in the fast-moving consumer goods sector, alongside advertising, brand management and public relations agencies involved in building and promoting them.
This year's honours placed both Rabiu's leadership and BUA Group's corporate brand among the recipients recognised for their contributions to Nigeria's industrial and commercial landscape.
