AIICO Insurance Plc has strengthened its workplace and professional development infrastructure with the unveiling of its newly transformed Learning and Conference Centre at its head office in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The upgraded facility is designed to serve as a hub for employee training, collaboration and knowledge exchange, while also providing space for conferences, exhibitions, seminars, symposiums, strategy sessions and other professional gatherings.
The development reflects the insurer’s efforts to create a more modern environment for learning and collaboration as the organisation continues to expand its learning and development programmes.
The centre is equipped with modern multimedia facilities and technology-enabled infrastructure aimed at improving the experience of both internal and external users.
Within AIICO, the facility provides dedicated spaces for training programmes, workshops, meetings and collaborative sessions. The company said the design is intended to encourage interaction, knowledge sharing and continuous professional development among employees.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Human Resources Officer of AIICO Insurance Plc, Oluyemi Obakin, said the transformation was driven by the need to provide an environment that supports learning, collaboration and employee growth.
“Learning is most effective when people have the right environment to engage, exchange ideas and apply knowledge. The transformation of our Learning and Conference Centre gives our people a purpose-built space that supports training, collaboration and continuous development,” he said.
Obakin added that the facility was designed not merely as a physical upgrade but as part of the company’s broader approach to employee experience and organisational development.
“Beyond the physical infrastructure, the centre creates an ambience that encourages people to interact differently, think together and share knowledge. It gives us greater flexibility in how we deliver learning and development programmes and provides a space that is aligned with the kind of employee experience we want to create at AIICO.”
The investment also has an operational dimension, according to AIICO’s Chief Financial Officer, Bisola Elias.
Elias said having a purpose-built facility within the company’s premises would provide greater flexibility in hosting corporate programmes while reducing the organisation’s reliance on external venues.
“The centre is a strategic investment in infrastructure that serves both our people and our business. Historically, organisations often have to commit significant resources to external venues when hosting training programmes, strategy sessions, workshops and other corporate engagements. Having a facility of this standard within our own premises gives us greater flexibility and allows us to retain more of that value within the organisation.
“Importantly, we have also designed the Centre to serve beyond AIICO. Organisations, professional bodies, businesses and other groups looking for a well-equipped venue in Victoria Island can access the facility for their own conferences, exhibitions, seminars, symposiums, training programmes and other events.”
The decision to make the facility available to external users also positions the centre as a potential venue for organisations seeking modern conference and training infrastructure within Lagos Island.
Situated in Victoria Island, one of Lagos’ major commercial and business districts, the facility is strategically located within an area that hosts a wide range of businesses, professional organisations and corporate institutions.
AIICO said the centre’s location would provide convenient access to businesses and professionals within Victoria Island and other parts of Lagos, while its technology-enabled facilities would support a range of professional and corporate events.
The unveiling therefore represents both an investment in AIICO’s internal learning infrastructure and an expansion of the company’s facilities available for external professional engagements.
With dedicated spaces for training, meetings, seminars and other events, the centre is expected to support AIICO’s continuing focus on employee development while providing a corporate venue for organisations seeking facilities for learning, collaboration and professional gatherings.
