Nollywood actress and activist Iyabo Ojo has pushed back against what she described as persistent online attacks against her and her family, insisting that criticism linked to her activism will not make her reconsider the causes she has supported.
Ojo made the remarks in a lengthy statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday, where she also challenged social media users to be more critical of allegations circulated online and urged anyone making accusations to provide verifiable evidence.
The actress warned against accepting claims simply because they are repeatedly made on social media, arguing that allegations should be supported by evidence and subjected to the appropriate legal process.
“Anyone who alleges must prove. No one is above the law. Don’t be deceived. The law and justice will take their full course,” she wrote.
Her comments come amid what she characterised as sustained criticism directed at her family. Ojo said some of the claims circulating online were part of attempts to manipulate members of the public, particularly when individuals claim to possess evidence without making such evidence available for independent scrutiny.
“It’s 2026. Please stop believing anyone who comes online to manipulate grown adults like you… Saying ‘I have proof, I have evidence’ without ever showing or posting the evidence for you to verify for yourself,” she said.
The actress further emphasised that her public identity has never been limited to her career in entertainment. According to Ojo, activism has been an important component of her public life, particularly in situations where she has chosen to speak out or support people facing difficult circumstances.
“I have never been just an ordinary actress or celebrity,” Ojo said, stressing that her activism has remained central to how she engages with issues beyond the entertainment industry.
Despite the backlash she says she has faced as a consequence of her activism, the actress maintained that she would make the same choices again if given another opportunity.
“I have NO regrets. I repeat, I have NO regrets helping and fighting for those I fought for. If I had the opportunity to do it again, I would. I just no longer bring it to social media,” she stated.
She added: “All this noise these miscreants call ‘attacks’ is a result of my activism. And I honestly have no regrets because I have stood on the right path.”
Ojo also invoked her Christian faith as a source of strength, saying her confidence in God has helped her withstand the pressure surrounding her and her family.
“1 with God is a majority, and my confidence lies solid in Him. No one is bigger than God, so that no one can rewrite my story or my kids’ story. No matter how hard they plot, curse, defame, manipulate, twist and bark. My family and I are God’s chosen.”
While acknowledging that some supporters have been concerned about the controversy surrounding her family, Ojo sought to reassure them that she remains confident about their future.
“To all those- our amazing fans and loved ones who are truly worried- please be at peace. God is in control. His blessings in our lives are a testament to His grace, greatness, celebration, and protection. We have continued to progress, and my family and I will continue to do so in God’s likeness and glory.”
The actress also rejected suggestions that she or those close to her deliberately publish false information on social media.
“Please let me be very clear: There is NO WAY — I repeat, NO WAY — we would ever post anything on social media that is fake. It’s a public notice. You can verify it if you are in denial. Know that. And know peace.”
Ojo’s statement reflects the increasingly contentious relationship between public figures and social media, where allegations can spread rapidly before claims are independently verified. Her call for evidence places emphasis on the distinction between accusations and established facts, while her comments suggest that she intends to continue standing by the causes she has publicly supported.
For the actress, however, the controversy has not altered her position. Ojo said her activism remains a part of her identity and made clear that the criticism surrounding it would not cause her to apologise for taking positions she believes were right.
