The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has introduced a controlled process allowing candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered telephone numbers or email addresses to update their details.

The new service, which commenced on September 21, 2026, is available exclusively at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test centres, including State Offices where applicable.

The board announced the policy change on Monday through its official X account, explaining that the measure was designed to assist candidates who can no longer access the GSM numbers or email addresses originally linked to their JAMB records.

Under the revised arrangement, eligible candidates will be required to undergo strict identity and biometric verification before any change is made to their registered information.

JAMB emphasised that the service is not an unrestricted change-of-details facility, but a controlled process intended specifically for candidates with genuine cases of lost access.

“Please note: The service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification,” the board said.

Candidates can use the service to update their registered GSM number, email address, or both, provided they satisfy the board’s verification requirements.

JAMB also warned candidates against using agents, unauthorised persons or unofficial channels to process the changes, stressing that applicants should deal directly with designated centres.

“For your security, use only designated JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised persons or channels,” the board said.

One-time access

The one-time restriction means candidates who use the facility will not have an opportunity to repeatedly alter their registered contact information through the same process.

The requirement for biometric and identity verification is intended to ensure that changes are made only for the legitimate candidate associated with the JAMB record.

The board therefore advised candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered contact details to use only the approved centres when seeking an update.

JAMB said the initiative forms part of its JCARE and JAMB Updates initiatives, which are designed to provide candidates with relevant services and information relating to their admission and registration processes.

The policy provides a new avenue for candidates who may otherwise face difficulties accessing JAMB-related services because they no longer have access to the telephone number or email address originally used during registration.

However, the board's conditions remain clear: the service is restricted to designated JAMB centres, candidates must undergo identity and biometric verification, and the facility can be accessed only once.

Candidates seeking to take advantage of the service are therefore expected to visit the appropriate JAMB-designated centre and follow the prescribed verification process rather than rely on third parties or unofficial channels.
