Omotola Receives Social Impact, Lifetime Recognition in the US

Nigerian actress and filmmaker Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has received dual recognition in the United States for her contributions to social impact and community development.

The veteran actress was presented with a Social Impact Award and a Lifetime Social Impact Recognition by Israel Tribune and 90210 Enterprise. According to Omotola, the honours mark the first joint recognition presented by the two organisations.

The awards come months after the actress announced her decision to commit proceeds from her latest film, Mother’s Love, towards supporting the education of children living in underserved communities.

The initiative focused particularly on children from communities such as Makoko, a waterfront community in Lagos that featured among the locations and backgrounds represented in the film.

Omotola shared news of the recognition on social media, reflecting on how a decision she described as an act of obedience had grown beyond her initial expectations and resonated with people around the world.

“When I decided to donate our entire producers’ earnings from Mother’s Love: The Movie to the education of children from underserved communities such as Makoko, which was one of the backgrounds of our movie, little did I know how many it would resonate with, touch, or be watched by. Our little act of obedience has continued to inspire me,” she wrote.

The actress also expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as an honour and thanking God for the opportunity to combine her career with giving back to society.
