Veteran Nollywood actor Osita Iheme, widely recognised by his popular screen name, Pawpaw, has disclosed that marriage is not part of his plans, saying he is content with the life he has chosen for himself.

The 43-year-old actor made the revelation during a recent interview with Naija FM, where he explained that his priorities currently revolve around maintaining a peaceful life, enjoying his time and supporting members of his family.

Iheme said he does not feel pressured to marry simply because it is traditionally expected of people at a certain stage of life. According to him, his relationship with his nieces and nephews gives him a strong sense of family and responsibility.

The actor explained that he considers his nieces and nephews as his own children, adding that he does not believe marriage is necessary for him to achieve personal fulfilment.

“I consider my nieces and nephews as my own children,” Iheme said, explaining his perspective on family and parenthood.

He further indicated that he would rather channel his resources towards the wellbeing of people close to him than pursue marriage because of societal expectations.

For Iheme, living peacefully and being able to provide support to his family are more important priorities. His comments offer a glimpse into his personal outlook away from the screen, where he has remained one of Nollywood’s familiar comic figures.

Iheme gained widespread recognition alongside fellow actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, following their appearance in the 2002 comedy film Aki na Ukwa. The movie became a major success and helped establish the duo as one of the most recognisable comic partnerships in Nigerian cinema.

Since then, Iheme has built a long career in Nollywood, appearing in numerous films and maintaining a strong connection with audiences who know him as Pawpaw.

His latest comments underline his preference for defining family and fulfilment on his own terms, rather than allowing conventional expectations about marriage to determine his personal choices.
