South African multi-hyphenate unveils vibrant new track ahead of sophomore EP DOLLS EAT.
South African artist, actor, creator, performer and DJ Kamo_ww is turning up the energy with his latest single, “NGO’ 7 (Ufun’ Ukwenzani)”, released today through gamma. The vibrant dance track offers an early glimpse into his forthcoming sophomore EP, DOLLS EAT., and introduces listeners to one of the project’s most playful sides.
Built for the dance floor, “NGO’ 7” captures Kamo_ww in a carefree mode, combining his instinctive connection to movement with the distinctive production of StockieNChillie and playful melodies from Springle.
The track’s spontaneous character is reflected in the story behind its creation. It was recorded towards the end of a studio session, at a point when Kamo_ww and his collaborators were already tired and preparing to call it a night.
Then the beat came on.
“We were about to pack up, then this beat came on and we just had to go one more time,” says Kamo_ww. “That’s the energy the song lives in.”
That last-minute burst of creativity ultimately became the essence of “NGO’ 7”. Rather than attempting to make a profound statement, the song embraces something much simpler: the freedom to have fun.
“It doesn’t have the strongest or deepest message, and that’s intentional. Not everything needs to be deep, sometimes you just need to dance. Sometimes you just need to ask, ‘Ufun’ ukwenzani?’ and do it.”
A different side of DOLLS EAT.
The single serves as an introduction to the lighter, more joyful dimension of DOLLS EAT., Kamo_ww’s upcoming sophomore EP.
The project explores themes including performance, survival, softness, power and joy, while placing particular emphasis on the community surrounding his Haus, known as The Dolls.
For Kamo_ww, that world is not defined by a single emotion or experience. It is a space where vulnerability, celebration, resilience and self-expression can exist alongside one another.
“Dolls Eat when they’re crying, Dolls Eat when they’re slaying, and Dolls Eat when they’re just having fun on a Friday NGO’ 7,” he says.
That philosophy runs through the wider EP, which aims to bring together the different dimensions of Kamo_ww’s artistry. DOLLS EAT. allows performance and power to sit alongside softness, survival and, importantly, joy.
With “NGO’ 7 (Ufun’ Ukwenzani)”, Kamo_ww opens the door to the fun side of that world, inviting listeners into the energy of his Haus while establishing the tone for what is to come.
Welcome to the fun side of the Haus.
From the East Rand to a growing creative world
Born and raised in Johannesburg, Kamohelo Pule, professionally known as Kamo_ww, has developed a multidisciplinary career spanning music, acting, performance, DJing and content creation.
His sound is deeply connected to his surroundings and his longstanding relationship with dance, drawing from amapiano, pop performance and township expression.
Dance was part of his life long before music became a professional pursuit. As a child growing up in the East Rand, Kamo_ww would dance in his living room, unaware that the instinct for movement would eventually become central to his creative identity.
He formally stepped into music in 2023 with his debut single, “abafana”, and has since continued expanding a distinctive artistic universe across several creative disciplines.
Now, with “NGO’ 7”, he is offering audiences another entry point into that universe — one centred not on pressure or seriousness, but on movement, spontaneity and the simple pleasure of letting go.
As DOLLS EAT. approaches, Kamo_ww is making one thing clear: sometimes, the message is simply to put the music on and dance.
