Agency’s recognition highlights its commitment to strategic creativity, brand development and measurable business impact

SO&U, one of Nigeria’s leading integrated marketing communications agencies, has been named Outstanding Creative Advertising Agency of the Year at the 2026 BrandCom Awards, earning recognition for its creative excellence, strategic insight and contributions to the country’s advertising industry.

The award underscores the agency’s longstanding philosophy that effective advertising must extend beyond attracting attention to building meaningful relationships between brands and consumers while delivering tangible business results.

Founded in 1990, SO&U has established a reputation for developing campaigns that resonate with audiences and help brands secure distinctive positions in consumers’ lives. Operating under its guiding philosophy, Creativity that Works, the agency combines strategic thinking, cultural understanding and innovative ideas to address business challenges and create lasting brand connections.

Speaking on the recognition, the Group Managing Director of SO&U, Udeme Ufot, MFR, attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of the agency’s workforce, clients and partners.

“Creativity has always been at the heart of SO&U, but for us, it has never been just about producing work that looks good or gets people talking. It is about understanding people, solving real problems for our clients and creating ideas that make a difference. This recognition is a great encouragement to our team and a reminder of the responsibility that comes with the work we do,” he said.

Ufot noted that the award reflected the trust and collaboration of the agency’s clients, alongside the dedication of its people, whose contributions continue to push creative boundaries and encourage fresh approaches to communication.

He also stressed the need for advertising agencies to adapt to changing consumer behaviour, evolving media platforms and new ways in which audiences interact with brands.

“Advertising is constantly changing. The way people consume content, relate to brands and make decisions is different from what it was a few years ago. We must keep learning, keep questioning and keep finding better ways to connect brands with people. That is what keeps our work relevant, and it is what we intend to keep doing,” Ufot said.

The BrandCom Awards celebrates excellence and achievement across Nigeria’s marketing communications industry, recognising organisations and professionals whose contributions support the growth and development of the sector.

For SO&U, the latest honour reinforces a legacy built around the conviction that successful advertising begins with a deep understanding of people and translates that insight into ideas capable of creating measurable value for businesses and consumers.

Established by three creatives in 1990, SO&U is among Nigeria’s earliest creatively led advertising agencies. Over the years, it has been associated with several notable marketing and communications campaigns, including the launch of Guaranty Trust Bank and MTN, the repositioning of Access Bank and Globacom, campaigns for Guinness FES and Malta Guinness, as well as social mobilisation programmes for the Akwa Ibom State Government.

The agency has since evolved into an integrated marketing communications group offering services spanning strategy and creative development, digital marketing, strategic media planning and buying, audiovisual production, experiential marketing, events, sponsorships, public relations and specialist out-of-home advertising.

As it builds on the latest recognition, SO&U says it remains focused on helping brands maintain relevance, strengthen consumer relationships and translate creative possibilities into tangible commercial outcomes.

The award further highlights the continuing importance of strategic creativity in an increasingly competitive marketing environment, where brands must not only capture attention but also earn consumer trust and demonstrate the value of their communications investments.
