Appointment takes effect October 1 following CBN’s ‘no objection’

Sync Finance Company Limited has appointed Paul Onwuanibe as Chairman of its Board of Directors, following the receipt of a “no objection” from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The appointment, which was approved by the company’s Board of Directors, took effect on October 1, 2026.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by Sync Finance Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ikenna Imo.

The company described Onwuanibe as a seasoned entrepreneur and business leader with extensive experience in strategic leadership, investment and enterprise development.

He is the Founder and Chief Executive of Landmark Africa Group, the developer of Landmark Centre and Landmark Beach Resort in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Under his leadership, Landmark Africa Group has established a presence in Nigeria’s real estate, hospitality and leisure sectors.

According to the statement, Onwuanibe brings to Sync Finance considerable experience in building and scaling businesses both within and outside Nigeria.

He holds an MSc in Architecture, Environmental Design and Planning, as well as an MSc in Construction Management.

Onwuanibe pledges stronger governance

Speaking on his appointment, Onwuanibe expressed his appreciation for the opportunity and outlined his priorities as he assumes the leadership of the board.

“I am honoured to take on the role of Chairman at Sync Finance Company Limited. The Company has built a strong foundation, and I look forward to working with the Board, Management and Staff to strengthen its governance, deepen its services to customers, and drive sustainable growth in line with stipulated regulatory standards.”

His comments come as financial institutions continue to place emphasis on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, customer-focused services and sustainable growth within Nigeria’s financial services sector.

Imo, who commented on the development, said Onwuanibe’s experience would be valuable to the company as it enters what management described as its next phase of growth.

The appointment, effective from October 1, places Onwuanibe at the head of the company’s board as Sync Finance seeks to strengthen its governance framework and expand its financial services offerings while operating within applicable regulatory requirements.
