The nominees were announced by the continent’s football governing body on Tuesday through its official social media platforms, with 10 players featuring in each of the three individual categories: Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year.
Edo Queens goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma earned a nomination in the Goalkeeper of the Year category, while Benfica and Falconets forward Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei and Robo Queens and Flamingos forward Oluwakemi Adegbuyi were shortlisted for Young Player of the Year.
Nigeria also made the 10-team shortlist for National Team of the Year, following the Super Falcons' achievements on the continent.
However, no Nigerian player secured a nomination in the senior Player of the Year category.
The 2026 CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled to hold on Monday, December 7, in Lagos State, where winners across the various categories will be announced.
Among the notable contenders for the Player of the Year award is Malawi international Temwa Chawinga, who featured among the top 10 women in the 2026 Ballon d'Or rankings.
Cameroon's Michaely Bihina received nominations in both the Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year categories, while Senegal's Adji Ndiaye was shortlisted for Young Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year.
Cabo Verde is the only country among the 10 National Team of the Year nominees without a representative in any of the three individual categories.

Nigeria has maintained a strong presence at the CAF Women's Awards in recent years. In November 2025, the Super Falcons won the Women's National Team of the Year award, while Chiamaka Nnadozie, Brighton's goalkeeper, claimed the Women's Goalkeeper of the Year prize for the third consecutive time.
The latest nominations provide another opportunity for Nigerian women's football to gain continental recognition, with three players and the national team representing the country across the shortlisted categories.
