Reflecting on his rise in Nigeria's hospitality and entertainment industry, Cubana Chief Priest described Obi Cubana as more than a businessman, calling him a visionary leader whose greatest achievement lies in mentoring people and building successful entrepreneurs.
According to him, his transformation from an ambitious apprentice to one of Nigeria's most recognised nightlife personalities was the result of years of learning, dedication and hands-on experience under the guidance of the Cubana Group founder.
Speaking on the breakthrough that changed his life, Cubana Chief Priest said the launch of Opium Cubana in Owerri in 2016 marked the beginning of his remarkable success story.
"If I did not bring Opium Cubana to Owerri in 2016, I for no be Chief Priest. I did not just follow him; I contributed and became the motion of the business. The motion was heavy and every day was a shutdown," he said.
He explained that the overwhelming success of the Owerri outlet became the foundation for the rapid expansion of the Cubana hospitality brand, paving the way for new establishments in Lagos, Enugu and Abuja, as well as several other hospitality investments across the country.
Cubana Chief Priest also applauded Obi Cubana's leadership style, describing him as a fearless entrepreneur who is always willing to take calculated risks while creating opportunities for others to succeed.
"Obi is born ready. He has a lifestyle and he is ready to spend. He is not afraid to lose, learn and move. He really put me on, not minding how famous I was becoming. Baba na ruthless builder. He gets anything he wants. He is always ready to explore and deliver," he said.
He noted that within just three years, the Cubana brand had grown into one of Nigeria's most influential names in hospitality and nightlife, attracting partnerships with major beverage companies and earning widespread recognition across the country.
Expressing heartfelt appreciation to his mentor, Cubana Chief Priest said the values he learned through apprenticeship continue to shape his business philosophy and personal growth.
Encouraging aspiring entrepreneurs to remain patient and committed to learning, he stressed that genuine success comes through service, discipline and creating value rather than seeking instant fame.
"Obi Cubana, you are my don for life. You taught me the business wholeheartedly. The lesson for today is value. Be a man of value. I did not just meet him; I came to serve, learn and grow myself. When you are working for someone, you are working for yourself. Apprenticeship is key. You must serve before you become Odogwu," he said.
His remarks have resonated with many young entrepreneurs, highlighting the importance of mentorship and apprenticeship as enduring pathways to building sustainable careers and successful businesses.
