I HAVE NO PRESSURE ON ME AS AN EVANGELIST -EUCHARIA ANUNOBI

Top Nollywood actress, Eucharia Anunobi recently had her status changed to an Evangelist, after being ordained on Sunday, February 5, 2012 in Lagos. The former Nollywood bad girl spoke to Osaremen Ehi James on how she changed from what most people thought she was to a new creature and a fisher of men in the vineyard of God.

How would you describe what has happened to you
Well, I will say I am overwhelmed, I am delighted. I am grateful to God for making me be among the chosen ones to work for his kingdom. I am glad. Who am I among the many? I just want to thank God for that.

Is your 2012 resolution still winning more souls to the kingdom
I am absolutely still on that. I think that is the reason I am on earth. I have found my preference a long time ago; it is winning souls for the kingdom, souls that will worship and do the work of God.

What should the people expect from you
To continue to do the work of God and teach them his ways, and also make them understand that they have to be partners of the kingdom. I have never believed in being a lukewarm Christian. I want to tell people that whatever they do on earth, it should be for God. That is what I am doing. They should try to leave their feet on the sand of time. I believe I have done that in the work people know me with, acting. God made me famous for a reason, which is to harvest more souls. While I make people happy through movies, I want to tell them that they need to be happy through the word. That is where they would be more comfortable and have more rest.

Do you see your new status as a pressure
Pressure? No way. I think serving God is no pressure

(cuts in) I mean from the press and the public
Absolutely no, I think of the joy in it. If you desire something, I believe it can not be a pressure on you. Where your heart is, that is where your treasure is. People have been asking me when I was going to produce movies like my other colleagues; I have always told them they would know what I will produce. I think the day has broken; now people know what I am producing. I am producing souls for the kingdom. It might be a tedious work, but I have passion for God, righteous and fruitful living. I have passion for standing upright. I am showcasing to the world that people from the entertainment industry are not in the negative as people think they are. But something good comes out of them. We are role models in truth and in spirit. I think I am exemplifying that.

Would you still feature in movies
Why not? God blessed me through movies. I definitely can't leave my first calling. What it means is that a new status has been added to me, I should then do more work. It means all those in darkness in the same work I do, would find light. When I share some of my success stories, why I have remained in the game, I can then tell them that it has been God, especially since I became commercially successful through the movie, Glamour Girls.

Can you still play a similar role to the role you played in Glamour Girls
There is a time and season for everything. They say when you are a child, you do like one, but when you become an adult, you do exactly like an adult. I would not condemn the movie that I did back then (Glamour Girls) because that was when God said it should be done for a purpose. I will still do movies, but I will have to colour it with maturity. It does not mean I can't still act romantic roles. But with the believe and covering of the Holy Spirit. You also have to know that as long as such roles have nothing to do with your person; there is nothing wrong in it. Actors are two different people, the play-acting and the real persons. Problems start when you continue to live like the roles you have played in movies. This is the Eucharia people don't know, the Eucharia that will die in Christ.

Should we be expecting Eucharia Church of God
Well, everything is a step or a turn by turn thing. The Lord has called me for evangelism; I love to talk about God and spreading his message. If the time comes, like you know, I am not known for talking too much, but for now, I will follow the footsteps of my mentor. You become a leader in serving, but when the time comes, if it had to be like that, we would all know.
