    Boko Haram’s killings worry Sultan, says enough is enough


    Worried by the spate of bombings and attacks in the northern part of Nigeria by the Islamic Violent group, Boko Haram, the very powerful Sultan of Sokoto,  Alh.Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar says the region must work together to put a stop to the violence.
    The Sultan spoke at a meeting held on Thursday in Kaduna with emirs and chiefs from the north.
    According to the traditional ruler “the bloodshed must stop and every one of us must come to appreciate that we cannot continue on this destructive path.”
    Alh. Abubakar warned the perpetrators of bombings in the name of religion as he said “Allah will definitely put to shame those who seek to violate the honour and sanctity of Muslims. We must at all times seek Allah’s intervention through prayers for there is no calamity or distress that he cannot dispel.”
    The sultan however believes there would be no lasting peace if government officials fail to provide developmental projects and alleviate people’s poverty.
    He also pointed out that traditional and religious leaders must bear a special responsibility in counseling those in positions of authority at the federal, state and local government levels, that governance must  be equated with service to the people.
    “Prosperity of the state must translate into the prosperity of the entire populace; it shall not be the exclusive preserve of the few who happen to have access to state resources.” He added
