My New Album Will Shock My Fans -CISCA

Former Big Brother Africa housemate, Cisca has finally released the musical video of her hit tracks, Diva and Gbadu You. The talented singer, who clocked 28 on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, opened up on her Grammy experience, album and why she is not in any relationship yet.

What are you working on now
I am working on my album which is my baby project. It is a very stressful and lovely adventure.  I am trying to discover a thing or two on what I want to do about the album.  It is an experimental album. I am hoping my fans home and abroad would appreciate the effort I have put into the album.

Can you shed light on the album because a lot of people are wondering why you have not released it
The album basically is a variety of beats.  It's quite innovative and comprises things not yet done in Nigeria.  I am trying to do things that will be highly appreciated both at home and abroad.  I am discovering myself more on the project and other artists used in the album.  I am working with a couple of capable hands and producers home and abroad and will shock my fans who are eagerly waiting for my album.  A lot of people have been asking what have I been doing and this is what I have been doing sincerely.  The album was supposed to be ready in March, but I discovered there is still more I would like to put into it. I want to do a complete album that would be a force to be reckoned with.  We are also looking at other international corporation, which have shown keen interest in the albums and ready to invest in it.  Since last year that I have burst into the musical limelight with my single, a lot of eyes are on me and I am hoping I won't disappoint them. It's not just about me but what I can offer to the people.

What would you say are your unique selling points among the few female acts we have in the industry
Every female artist is extremely talented.  They all have their own contribution to the society and amazing voice. I am about me; I am full of energy and life. I am always doing what I know how to do best, make people have fun. I am good at making people happy through my God given talent.  And one thing about me is that I am me and do not try to put on someone else's identity.
Since your incursion into the music industry after Big Brother Africa, what has been the limitation to your beautiful dreams?
You can have a dream and when it comes to the Nigerian music scene you ask yourself what kind of music do they listen to, and it could be confusing, you put your utmost best in a song at times but it doesn't move them.  But if you look at the international market they listen to your album and appreciate your uniqueness. It's confusing, stressful and somehow, but if you know you have what it takes, then you go the extra mile.

Cisca has gradually become a brand, how did it start
I coined it from my name Francisca and because I know what I wanted my name to be, I made it my stage name.  And like my song that shot me into limelight, I was contemplating whether Cisca is just someone who is simple and fun and who is able to project a typical African woman.
I know you also have flair for fashion as a brand, what are you working on?
That is coming pretty soon and I don't want to reveal that now.  Hopefully, it will be out this year.

While experimenting with the Nigerian music industry, did you feel like quitting
Oh yes!  It was scary, but at the end of the day I looked beyond the Nigerian market and considered the international market.

How do you handle your male fans
I take them as they come. I am a very open minded person.  I love male attention and since I am a woman, it's allowed.  As long as you are nice to me, I will be nice to you.

People are wondering about your relationship status
I am not in any relationship for now.  It's just about work, my career is still my main focus at the moment.  If relationship comes, it comes.  I am just me and I am simple.

You will be 28 this month, would it be right to say your work is your lover for now
Yes, my work is my lover for now. I am married to my career for now.

What's the greatest challenge you have had to battle
A lot of people asked why I disappeared from the scene that they were expecting something big from me and since they don't know the story behind the person, I have gone through my personal thing.  I lost my grandfather and it took me a while to get over it.  The reason is that I was very close to him and I value my family a lot.  At this point, I have disappointment with friends that I have had close walk with for years and it really affected me.  I just thought of channeling all my energy to my career.

We learnt you are planning a talk show
It's an idea but I still don't know the format its going to take but it might be a reality show. However, it is definitely going to be a talk show.  It will be fun. But for now, I am concentrating on my music especially my videos.

You were at the last Grammy Awards and met with some stars as regards your career, can you share the experience with us
It was fun and a lovely experience.  I was with the stars at the back stage and discovered how things were done.  The atmosphere was electrifying.  I love the way the media embraced the celebrities.  They didn't segregate unlike what obtains here in Nigeria whether you are an upcoming artist or an A-list artist.  They embraced us all and supported us all.  I was opportune to meet with J Cole and all the top artists.  It was a great opportunity.

Any plan to do collabo with J Cole?
Coming soon!  That one is so sure.
