The Ondo State gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday, October
20th, may go the way of Labour Party as an opinion poll conducted by Online
Bloggers Association of Nigeria has shown.
The Association, made up of Online Bloggers last week Tuesday made
public the result of its opinion poll for the election with the Labour Party

exercise, that for the purpose of the opinion poll, 9,600 questionnaires were
randomly administered to respondents who had attained the 18-year voting age
and above in the three Senatorial districts.
According to him, “Only 9,000 out of the 9,600 questionnaires were
processed at the end of the two-week polling exercise which ended on Wednesday,
last week, as the respondents provided all the measurable answers that were
germane to the analysis of the data supplied.
“We were able to process 3,400 questionnaires in Ondo North; 4,000
questionnaires in Ondo Centraland 1,600 questionnaires in Ondo South and the
choices were among the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Barr. Rotimi
Akeredolu; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Olusola Oke and Labour
candidate, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
“The analysis of the responses as to whom the respondents would likely
vote for on Saturday October 20 showed that the candidate of the Labour, Dr.
Mimiko, was the most preferred in all the three Senatorial Districts with as
much as 85percent of the respondents preferring him,” the statement read.
Ibitoye stated that “in Ondo North, out of the 3,400 respondents,
3,000 respondents indicated preference for the Labour candidate, 340
respondents representing indicated preference for the PDP candidate while 60
respondents indicated preference for the Action Congress candidate.
Out of the 4,000 respondents Labour Candidate was preferred by 3,680
in, 196 respondents indicated their preference for the ACN candidate while 124
respondents indicated preference for the PDP candidate. “In Ondo South where
1,600 respondents were sampled, 1,467 indicated their preference for the Labour
candidate while 100 respondents indicated preference for the PDP
candidate. 33 respondents indicated
preference for the ACN candidate.”
He said that the analysis of the responses, especially where they were
asked the reason(s) for their preferences showed that the performance and fear
of the unknown played vital factor in the decision of the voters.
According to Malik, the final analysis showed that Labour had
85percent of the voters, while the Peoples Democratic Party had 9 percent and
Action Congress had 6 percent. He disclosed that 3 more polls will be conducted
