If everything goes as planned,
Gov. Liyel Imoke of Cross River state, one of the Nigeria's absentee governors
is expected to return back to his state this week, according to our source.
We gathered that after the
governor underwent a successful medical procedure in the state of Maryland,
USA, he has been undergoing therapy at his rich neighborhood home in Ellicott
City to recuperate.
Recall that in November last
year, Governor Imoke communicated his decision to embark on a 2 month accumulated
leave through a letter to the State House of Assembly Speaker; Hon. Larry Odey,
but used the opportunity to undergo a surgical procedure at a Maryland medical
facility.
Source who visited the governor’s
Ellicott City home said, a lady who peeped through the front door expressed
shock when we identified ourselves as journalists, simply said “the governor
was not around,” but promised to deliver our message to him when he
returns."
However our source insisted that
the governor was in the house when we visited and has been undergoing therapy
there after the medical procedure.
Three governors in Nigeria have
been absent from their duty posts for a while now – Gov Sullivan Chime of Enugu
has gone to India to receive medical treatments but now recuperating in London.
Gov. Liyel Imoke of Cross Rivers is in Maryland, USA for his own medical procedure,
while Gov. Danbaba Suntai of Taraba, who escaped a plane crash, is currently
getting treatments at a German hospital.
