Public officers and civil servants in the services of the Plateau State government have been warned to desist from corrupt practices that can bring disrepute to the state or face the wrath of the law. They have also been warned to demonstrate their loyalty to the government rather than to political parties.
Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State in his address during the swearing in of the new Head of Service and fifteen Permanent Secretaries urge the new appointees to be loyal, dedicated, efficient and of integrity in the workforce of the state government; and not to see their appointments as an opportunity to dig from a gold mine, but one to write their names in gold.
Fifteen newly appointed Permanent Secretaries and a new Head of Service for Plateau State were sworn in at the government house chambers in Jos, North Central Nigeria.
Governor Jang restate government’s zero tolerance to corruption and urge family members, friends and associates of the new appointees not to put pressure of demands that might lead them to corrupt practices as erring civil servants and public officers found wanting in their various assignments will be dealt with according to the law.
The newly sworn in head of service, Ezekiel Dalyop responding on behalf of other appointees, assured of their determination to take the public service image beyond the present level with dedication and purposeful approach to decision making.
The onus is on the newly sworn in permanent secretaries and the head of service to redeem the battered image of Plateau State public service that has been bedevilled with incessant strikes and corruption in recent times by bringing in the desired and required change that will turn around the fortunes of the workforce positively.
