    NLC, TUC Blast Senate Over Removal of Minimum Wage from Exclusive List


    Nigeria Labour congress NLC and Trade Union  Congress TUC have threatened industrial action following the removal of national minimum wage from the exclusive list of the constitution in the on
    going constitution review.

    Speaking at a joint press conference, NLC President Comrade  Abdulwaheed Omar and TUC President comrade Bala Kaigama said Nigerian workers vowed not to allow the removal of the national minimum wages from the exclusive list of the constitution.

    NLC President, Omar explained that the proposed decentralization of minimum wage by the Senate is against the people and will erode the earning power of vulnerable workers.

    Comrade Omar added that senate position calls for two minimum wages regime that is Federal and State government, noting that state governments have been having problem implementing the minimum wage following their persistence outcry of lack of funds.

    “As a response to the challenge posed by the Senate to further exploit workers, we call on state councils and the leadership of industrial unions to remain calm and focused as we prepare to address this incipient, but growing impunity in our nation” Omar declared
