    Reactions on Golden Eaglets Victory


     Governor Orji
    Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has congratulated the Golden Eaglets for thrashing Mexico 3-0 at the finals of the FIFA Under 17 World Cup hosted in the United Arab Emirates.
    In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Ajunwa, Governor Orji who thanked the Golden Eaglets for doing Nigeria and the African continent proud by winning their fourth Under 17 World Cup, said their hard-earned victory over Mexico showed that they were a team to watch out for in future.

    The sports loving governor, said that the victory of the Golden Eaglets has further proved to the world that Nigeria was still a power house to reckon with in the round leather game.
    Orji who said that God has started answering the prayers he offered in the Holy Land, called on the handlers of the Golden Eaglets to ensure that all the players were kept together for future championship.

    According to him, the indomitable spirits of the players coupled with their courage contributed immensely to all the victories the team recorded throughout the championship.

    The victory of the Golden Eaglets, according to Governor Orji, has united the whole country even as he called on all Nigerians irrespective of religion or ethnicity to key into the transformation programme of President Goodluck Jonathan-led government which he said had opened windows of progress and development in the country.


    Ekweremadu
    The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has congratulated the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria on their victorious outing in FIFA Under 17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
    Senator Ekweremadu who described the Eaglets display as “phenomenal, entertaining, and near perfect” said the trophy was a centenary gift Nigerians would never forget in a hurry.

    He said: “I am indeed proud of these boys for this superlative and emphatic victory. But beyond the euphoria that comes with it, I believe that this is God reminding us through these young men that a united and one-minded Nigeria where everyone is given the opportunity to do what he or she knows best to do without recourse to nepotism, ethno-religious discrimination, and political manipulations is simply unstoppable.

    “It has been quite long we saw a thing like this and for me it is a Centenary gift that calls for sober reflections on what and where we ought to be as a nation”
    He urged all Nigerians to roll out the drum to celebrate the boys and fatherland.

    Mark, Saraki
    "I am very proud of the boys . I am very proud to be a Nigerian.
    These boys have sent a clear message to all Nigerians that ethnic or religion should not be our problem.
    We are united under one God and nation.  The boys have demonstrated that with the collective will of all of us, Nigeria can be united and we can rule the World" were the words of Senate President, David Mark.

    He added that it was a clear signal and a wake up call on the Super Eagles that Nigeria must be in Brazil for the world cup in 2014..
    Also, Senator Saraki also added that the victory of the Golden Eaglets has if the country's potentials are fully explored, we will have what it takes to stand on the global scene and take the lead.

    PDP
    The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has eulogised the under 17 team of Nigeria to the world cup at the United Arab Emirates for their victory.
    National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a statement recalled that the victory of the Super Eagles in the African Cup of Nation in February and “today’s victory in the Under 17 World Cup is a clear indication that the nation will surmount its challenges.

    “The fact that the nation lifted these coveted trophies is a clear indication that we have entered the era of possibilities. It is indeed a sign that the doors of good luck have been opened for the nation to excel in all other sectors.

    It shows that there is nothing impossible and that collectively we will overcome all the challenges we are facing as a nation".
    The party which said it was proud of the Nigerian Under 17 team commended  the players for “keeping their eyes on the trophy right from the  beginning of the tournament.”

    Oshiomole
    Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has congratulated the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria for winning the Under-17 Football Club for a record 4th time. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Peter Okhiria, Oshiomhole said “I heartily congratulate the Eaglets for doing Nigerians proud in far-away United Arab Emirates. The Eaglets displayed the can-do spirit of the Nigerian; the will to excel even in the face of excruciating challenges. “The Boys represent a new generation of Nigerians whose faith in the country remain unwavering as they forged a formidable team to win the coveted trophy despite coming from different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

    “I urge the authorities of the Nigerian Football Federation to keep this talented team together as the boys have the potential of even bringing greater honour to the country.
    “The government and good people of Edo State give kudos to the Golden Eaglets for this great feat.”

    Tambuwal
    Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has congratulated Nigerians over the victory of the Golden Eaglets in the FIFA U17 World Cup which ended yesterday in the United Arab Emirates.

    In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal described the victory as triumph of tenacity and hard work.
    He said the young boys have now taught the world the real essence of team work, adding that with all hands working together, all challenges would be surmounted.

    While congratulating the players and their handlers, led by coach Garba Manu, for a job well done, Tambuwal said the House of Representatives will continue to play a leading role in efforts to take sports to greater heights in the country.

    Adenuga
    Globacom Chairman, Mike Adenuga Jnr also splashed encomiums on the world-conquering Golden Eaglets. "Congratulations for emerging as the champions of the world. You have made the nation proud. You have inspired hope in every young Nigerian.
    You have proved that this immensely blessed country has all it takes to rule the world. You are truly unlimited," he said.

    Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives,  Hon Emeka Ihedioha has praised the Golden Eaglets for lifting the Under 17 World Cup for the fourth time describing their victory as exceptional and an act of patriotism Noting that the Golden Eaglets victory was on account of the players’ nationalistic zeal and tenacity he urged Nigerians to emulate the Golden Eaglets in their various careers and professions to stimulate Nigerian greatness. 

    Ihedioha hailed their Exceptional Performance  Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha has praised the Golden Eaglets for lifting the Under 17 World Cup for the fourth time describing their victory as exceptional and an act of patriotism.
    Noting that the Golden Eaglets victory was on account of the players’ nationalistic zeal and tenacity, he urged Nigerians to emulate the team in their various careers and professions to stimulate Nigerian greatness.

    Deputy Speaker who observed that the Golden Eaglets displayed superlative performance throughout the tournament that took place in Saudi Arabia noted that the Nigerian lads actually deserved the trophy

    He said: “the incontrovertible impressive performance of the Nigerian players is instructive that the future holds so much for the nation and the young players”. He advised Nigerian soccer administrators to consolidate on the Golden Eaglets glorious outing to improve the country’s football rating in the world.
    He stated that the widespread glory that radiates the victory was not only for Nigeria but for Africa and the black race.
