Chief DuruIheoma To Succeed Odimegwu as NPC Chairman

    Festus Odimegwu
President Goodluck Jonathan has nominated Chief Eze Duruiheoma as the chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC).
If confirmed by the senate, Chief Duruiheoma will succeed Mr Festus Odimegwu who resigned on October 17th, 2013.
Source reports that the former NPC boss was forced to resign after making a controversial statement that Nigeria has never had credible census since 1819, a statement that angered the Kano state government and members of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).
Apart from the chairman, the president also filled vacant slots for FCT, Katsina and Ekiti state. Those nominated are: Aliyu Daniel Kwali, (FCT), Alhaji Bala Almu Banye (Katsina) and Adebola Adetumbi (Ekiti).
Chief DuruIheoma was a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Imo State. He and other members of the commission are saddled with the responsibility of giving the country a credible census in 2016.
