We learnt that the building collapsed while construction work was ongoing which led to pandemonium, as everyone scampered for safety, while those working inside the building were trapped under the rubble.
The victims including four minors between the ages of 10 and 16, who are assistants to the construction workers, were later rescued by the emergency rescue officers from the state agencies.
The rescue teams include officers of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA; Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA and Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA.
Spokesperson, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the affected teenagers are Monday Ahungbe, 12; Jimoh Adebi, 13, and Moses Atoketi, 15.

He added that LASBCA later evacuated the teenagers from the medical centre for proper rehabilitation.
Reacting, General Manager, LASBCA, Mrs Abimbola Animashanun, warned against allowing minors to work at construction sites, describing it as a violation of the state’s child rights law.
She assured that the state goverment would rehabilitate the teenagers.

NEMA, LASEMA, LASBCA, Civil Defence Corps and the police were involved in the rescue operation.
